Getting Set Up

Unless you plan to use the sample ATG Self Service application as-is, without any re-branding or incorporation into your existing Web application, you will want to modify the ATG Self Service pages, and perhaps the entire application itself. Here are the steps that you will need to get started to access the application.

  1. Use WinZip or the jar xvf command to expand

    <ATG2007.3dir>/Service2007.3/Service/SelfService/j2ee-apps/
    knowledgebase-userexperience.ear

    into a folder called

    <ATG2007.3dir>/Service2007.3/Service/SelfService/j2ee-apps/
    SelfService-ear

  2. Edit the <web-uri> property of application.xml in the following directory:

    <ATG2007.3dir>/Service2007.3/Service/SelfService/j2ee-apps/
    SelfService-ear/META-INF/

    Set the property as follows:

    <web-uri>
         _SelfService
    </web-uri>

  3. Edit the properties file

    <ATG2007.3dir>/Service2007.3/Service/SelfService/config/atg/dynamo/
    service/j2ee/J2EEContainer.properties

    as follows:

    applications+={atg.dynamo.root}/Service2007.3/Service/SelfService
    /j2ee-apps/SelfService-ear

  4. In the directory

    <ATG2007.3dir>/Service2007.3/Service/SelfService/j2ee-apps/
    SelfService-ear/META-INF/DYNAMO-INF

    change all of the files to say:

    <module-uri>_SelfService</module-uri>

If you are running on Dynamo Application Server (DAS) then you can leave the ATG Self Service J2EE application in this state, and modify .jsp files while the application is running. However, regardless of the application server that you are using, it is recommended that you repackage the application as an .ear file when you deploy it.
