Each product in a category’s Fixed Child Products collection has a specific position in the collection. The page coding in many web sites, for example, the Commerce Reference Store application, uses the position to control the order in which products appear on the category pages.

To reorder a category’s fixed child products category, complete the following steps:

  1. Display a category’s products in the light table. See Displaying the Light Table for details.

  2. To move a product to a new position in the collection, change the number in the upper-left corner of the product’s tile and click Reorder.

Enter a number from 1 to the number of products in the collection. If the number you enter is greater than the number of products, Merchandising moves the product to the end of the list.

  3. To move a product to the top of a collection, click the arrow icon in the upper-left corner of the product’s tile.

  4. Click Save.

You can also drag one or more products to a new position in the light table:

  1. Display a category’s products in the light table. See Displaying the Light Table for details.

  2. Select one or more products in the light table. If you select multiple products, they do not have to be contiguous.

  3. Drag the assets to a new position in the collection and drop them. A vertical line appears at a potential drop location when you hover over it.

Merchandising automatically changes the order numbers to reflect the reordered collection.

  4. Click Save.
