Dimension values that represent ranges of values must be organized in specialized hierarchical dimensions known as range dimensions. The data type of a range value can be ALPHA, INTEGER, FLOAT, DOUBLE, or DATETIME.

For example, a hierarchical dimension named Prices could include the following range dimension values:

If the user clicks one of the price ranges -- for example, $150 - $200 -- the refinements of that selection will include all records in the index that fall within this price range.
