firmware-check Features

When installed, firmware-check by default runs in the background at OS boot to check the installed system firmware against metadata. If the installed version of system firmware is older than the required minimum version, a message is logged to syslog. The firmware-check command can also be run manually at the command line or used in a script with the results being displayed and/or logged to syslog.

When run, firmware-check does the following:

  • If the version is at or above the minimum level, no reporting is done.

  • If the version is older than the minimum level, an error is reported.
