Power Off the Host Using the On/Standby Button

For dual 4-socket systems, you can complete this action for both servers.

1. Locate the On/Standby button for the corresponding server on the system front panel.

   The front panel includes buttons for System A and System B. System B is only present on dual 4-socket systems.

2. Press the On/Standby button.
   • To perform a graceful shutdown, press and release the On/Standby button.

     The ACPI-enabled operating systems performs an orderly shutdown.

     The system System OK indicator flashes. The SP OK indicator is steady on.

   • To perform an immediate shutdown, press and hold the On/Standby button for at least 5 seconds.

     The system System OK indicator flashes. The SP OK indicator is steady on.

     ---

     Caution  -  Data loss. An immediate shutdown abruptly closes all applications and files without saving changes.

   • To completely power off the server, disconnect all four power cords from the back panel of the server.
