Assembling ATG Self Service with Authoring

When you assemble ATG Self Service with Authoring, you assemble an application that has the Call Center turned off. This module will have limited functionality and will not include the following: Ticketing, Hot Solutions and E-mail only escalations.

To assemble ATG Self Service with Authoring, create an EAR file that includes the modules ATG Self Service with Authoring requires using the <ATG2007.3dir>/home/bin/runAssembler tool. Before you can run the –runassembler command, you need to identify which modules you will install.

To create an EAR file for ATG Knowledge on an IBM Websphere or JBoss application server:

  1. Start the runAssembler script located in the <ATG2007.3dir>/home/bin directory to create an EAR file.

    In the following example, MyAnswerApplication.ear represents the EAR file:

    runAssembler –server svcreporting –standalone –liveconfig
    MyAnswerApplication.ear –m SearchAdmin.UI DAF.Search.Base.SearchUI
    Service.Answers Service.Answers-Admin Service.KnowledgeDataWarehouse

    Note: The order of the modules is important. The SearchAdmin.UI and DAF.Search.Base.SearchUI modules should be listed first, followed by the main module, and then the admin module.

    Note: The –standalone flag configures the assembled EAR in standalone mode, or on a server that does not have ATG installed. In Standalone mode, all of files needed to run the application are included within the EAR. This flag is required.

  2. Deploy the resulting EAR files to your application server and start them according to the instructions in your application server documentation.

  3. The SQL database and the DistributorServer must be running before you start your ATG applications. To start the DistributorServer on your HTTP server machine(s), run the startNucleus -m Distributor command under ATGWebServerExtensions_dir/home/bin.
