A catalog organizes your commerce assets in a hierarchy that reflects the way users will navigate to them on your Web sites. Catalogs are parents to two types of assets: categories and other catalogs. A catalog contained within another catalog is sometimes called a subcatalog, though it is technically just a catalog, with the same available properties as its parent.
