The Search Merchandising feature enables ATG Commerce sites to customize search results based on site initiatives and customer purchasing patterns. You use Merchandising to create search configurations, which are sets of rules that determine the order of search results and which items are excluded from the results.
Before you can define search configurations, an administrator must perform the following tasks:
Determine the structure for the search configuration tree, which involves deciding how to organize search configurations and search configuration folders, the dimensions and dimension values held by each, and the base search configurations to create.
Create the search configuration folders, sets up the dimension language, segment, and site values, and select the properties that can affect result ordering using property prioritization.
Once these tasks are complete, you can perform the following tasks.
Create base search configurations and specify the rules and settings they use.
Create search configurations and specify the rules and settings they use.
(Optional) Run search tests that list the results that would appear on the Web site if that search configuration were deployed.
