To set the facet inheritance options for a catalog or category:
In a Merchandising project, navigate to Search Merchandising and show Facets.
In the Navigation pane, select a catalog or category whose inheritance options you want to work with.
If the catalog or category has more than one parent catalog, select one from the Select a parent catalog dropdown menu.
The inherited facets appear in the Details pane.
(Optional) Review the Inherited Facets list to see all facets inherited by this catalog or category. You can click the name of an inherited facet to view or edit its details.
Select one or more Facet Inheritance options:
These options specify how the catalog or category inherits from its parents:
Inherit global facets: Include global facets in the facet set for this catalog or category.
Inherit facets from parent catalogs: Include the catalog facets from all parent catalogs in the facet set for this catalog or category.
Inherit facets from parent categories: Include the category facets from all parent categories in the facet set for this category.
These options specify how children of the catalog or category inherit from it:
Allow subcategories to inherit: Local facets for this category are included in the facet set of its subcategories.
Allow subcatalogs and subcategories to inherit: Local facets for this catalog are included in the facet set of its subcatalogs and subcategories.
Note: Your administrator may have configured Merchandising to apply catalog and category facet inheritance settings only if a catalog or category contains at least one local facet of its own. In this case, you can still specify facet inheritance settings, but Merchandising ignores them. If you specified a catalog or category to include inherited facets but you see that it does not when you preview your changes, contact your administrator.
