Full Rack Domain Configurations

Every Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 contains two SPARC T5-8 servers. For the Full Rack, each SPARC T5-8 server contains four processor modules.

The following domain configurations are available for each SPARC T5-8 server in the Full Rack:

  • Config F1-1: One domain (one Giant Domain)

  • Config F2-1: Two domains (two Large Domains)

  • Config F3-1: Three domains (one Large Domain, two Medium Domains)

  • Config F4-1: Four domains (four Medium Domains)

  • Config F4-2: Four domains (one Large Domain, two Small Domains, one Medium Domain)

  • Config F5-1: Five domains (two Medium Domains, two Small Domains, one Medium Domain)

  • Config F5-2: Five domains (one Large Domain, four Small Domains)

  • Config F6-1: Six domains (one Medium Domain, four Small Domains, one Medium Domain)

  • Config F7-1: Seven domains (one Medium Domain, six Small Domains)

  • Config F8-1: Eight domains (eight Small Domains)

The following figure provides more information on these configuration options.

The number of InfiniBand host channel adaptors (IB HCAs) that are assigned to any domain differs, depending on the size of the domain. In addition, the specific IB HCAs that are assigned to a domain differs, depending on that domain's location in the SPARC T5-8 server.

For example, if the F3-1 domain configuration is set up on one of the SPARC T5-8 servers, these IB HCAs, in these PCIe slots, are assigned to each domain:

  • Large Domain: Four IB HCAs, in PCIe slots 3, 11, 4 and 12

  • First Medium Domain: Two IB HCAs, in PCIe slots 7 and 15

  • Second Medium Domain: Two IB HCAs, in PCIe slots 8 and 16
