Example Configuration

The following configuration is used as an example throughout this exercise:

  • The system is the Full Rack version of the Oracle SuperCluster T5-8, with Exadata Storage Servers with 1.2 TB high performance disks

  • The F4-2 LDom configuration (four LDoms) is set up on both SPARC T5-8 servers in the Oracle SuperCluster T5-8.

  • The following LDom types are assigned to each LDom in both SPARC T5-8 servers:

    • LDom 1: Database Domain with four zones

    • LDom 2: Solaris 10 Application Domain

    • LDom 3: Solaris 11 Application Domain

    • LDom 4: Database Domain (without zones)

  • Five clusters are set up on the Oracle SuperCluster T5-8:

    • Four clusters for the eight zones on the Database Domain with zones (four zones on each SPARC T5-8 server, where two zones, one from each SPARC T5-8 server, are members of a cluster)

    • One cluster for the two Database Domains (without zones)

For each cluster, the example configuration assumes that you have zones within the Database Domain with zones, or Database Domains (without zones), that reside on different compute servers. So for the zones on Database Domains with zones for the Oracle SuperCluster T5-8, these zones are members of the first cluster:

  • First zone in the Database Domain with zones in the first SPARC T5-8 server

  • First zone in the Database Domain with zones in the second SPARC T5-8 server

Throughout these procedures, it is assumed that this configuration was created during your initial installation, and that you are adding zones to the existing Database Domains with zones.
