Half Rack Domain Configurations

Every Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 contains two SPARC T5-8 servers. For the Half Rack, each SPARC T5-8 server contains two processor modules.

The following domain configurations are available for each SPARC T5-8 server in the Half Rack:

  • Config H1-1: One domain (one Large Domain)

  • Config H2-1: Two domains (two Medium Domains)

  • Config H3-1: Three domains (one Medium Domain, two Small Domains)

  • Config H4-1: Four domains (four Small Domains)

The following figure provides more information on these configuration options.

The number of InfiniBand host channel adaptors (IB HCAs) that are assigned to any domain differs, depending on the size of the domain. In addition, the specific IB HCAs that are assigned to a domain differs, depending on that domain's location in the SPARC T5-8 server.

For example, if the H3-1 domain configuration is set up on one of the SPARC T5-8 servers, these IB HCAs, in these PCIe slots, are assigned to each domain:

  • Medium Domain: Two IB HCAs, in PCIe slots 3 and 11

  • First Small Domain: One IB HCA, in PCIe slot 8

  • Second Small Domain: One IB HCA, in PCIe slot 16
