Removing the Power, FIM, and Disk Backplane Data Cables


Caution

Caution  -  The power, front indicator module (FIM), and disk backplane data cables should be removed only by authorized Oracle Services personnel.


  1. Prepare the controller for service.
    1. Power off the controller and disconnect the power cords from the power supplies.

      See Powering Off the Controller.

    2. Extend the controller to the maintenance position.

      See Extend the Controller to the Maintenance Position.

    3. Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist, and then to a metal area on the chassis.

      See Take Antistatic Measures.

    4. Remove the controller top cover.

      See Remove the Controller Top Cover.

  2. Remove all of the controller fan modules.

    See Remove a Fan Module.

  3. To remove the disk backplane power cable, perform these steps:
    1. To disconnect the disk backplane power cable from the motherboard, press the release latches on the sides of the cable connector and pull the connector out. [1].
    2. To disconnect the disk backplane power cable from the disk backplane, press the release latches on the side of the cable connector and pull the connector out. [2].

  4. To remove the auxiliary power and signal cable, perform these steps:
    1. To eject the auxiliary power and signal cable from the motherboard, open the latches on the connector [3].
    2. To eject the auxiliary power and signal cable from the disk backplane, open the latches on the connector [4].
  5. To remove the FIM cable, perform these steps:
    1. Remove the FIM from the controller.

    2. Disconnect the FIM cable from the FIM [5].
    3. To eject the FIM cable from the motherboard, open both side latches [6].
