Remove the Internal HBA SAS Cable Assembly

1. Prepare the controller for service.
   1. Power off the controller and disconnect the power cords from the power supplies.

      See Powering Off the Controller.

   2. Extend the controller to the maintenance position.

      See Extend the Controller to the Maintenance Position.

   3. Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist, and then to a metal area on the chassis.

      See Take Antistatic Measures.

   4. Remove the controller top cover.

      See Remove the Controller Top Cover.

2. Remove all of the controller fan modules.

   See Remove a Fan Module.

3. Remove the PCIe riser from PCIe slots 3 and 4.

   See Remove the PCIe Riser From PCIe Slots 3 and 4.

4. To disconnect the SAS cables from the disk backplane, press the latch on the cable connectors and pull the connectors out. [1].
   
5. Disconnect the SAS cables from the internal host bus adapter (HBA).
   1. Remove the PCIe riser from PCIe slot 3 and 4.

   2. On the under side of the HBA, card press the SAS cable connector latches and then pull out the connectors [2].
6. Carefully remove the SAS cables from the controller.
