Remove the Battery

1. Prepare the controller for service.
   1. Power off the controller and disconnect the power cords from the power supplies.

      See Powering Off the Controller.

   2. Extend the controller to the maintenance position.

      See Extend the Controller to the Maintenance Position.

   3. Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist and then to a metal area on the chassis.

      See Take Antistatic Measures.

   4. Remove the controller top cover.

      See Remove the Controller Top Cover.

2. If there is a PCIe card installed in the PCIe riser slot 2, remove the riser and card to gain access to the battery.

   See Remove a PCIe Riser From PCIe Slot 1 or 2.

3. To dislodge the battery from the retainer, place your finger under the side of the battery nearest the rear of the controller [1] and gently lift the battery up and out of the retainer [2].
