You can delete content groups that you no longer need. Doing so only removes the group name, description, and definitions from the ATG Control Center; it does not affect the content items within the group.

Important: When you delete a content group, you must delete all references you’ve made to it in other ATG Control Center windows. For example, if the group is referenced by a content targeter, be sure to edit the targeting rules in the Content Targeters window. (For details, see the Setting Up Targeting Business Rules section.) Otherwise, the targeter will continue to refer to the deleted group and errors will occur whenever it is invoked on the Web site.

To delete an existing content group:

  1. If the group you want to delete is open, navigate to the group’s window by using the arrow buttons on the toolbar, and then close it by selecting File > Close.

  2. Select the content group from the Profile and Content Groups window. (To select a group without opening it, click any column other than the Name column.)

  3. Select File > Delete Group.

  4. When the confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
