Servicing the System Configuration PROM

The system configuration PROM is a cold-service component that can be replaced only by qualified service personnel.

The system configuration PROM stores the host ID and MAC address. If you have to replace the motherboard, be sure to move the System configuration PROM from the old motherboard to the new motherboard. This step will ensure that the server will retain its original host ID and MAC address.
