A new Search project automatically has one staging, one indexing and one Workbench environment on the local machine. A project can have only one indexing and one Workbench environment. You can deploy your index to the local staging environment for testing, but must create production environments.
You can create environments directly from a Search project, or create environments and then attach them to a project.
To create a Search environment in a project:
To create an environment within a project, in the Administration Options menu, go to Projects > Your Project >Environments and click Add Environment.
To create an environment that is not attached to a project, In the Administration Options menu, go to Environments and click New Search Environment.
Select the environment type.
Enter the environment name.
Click Add.
Specify a host machine or machines. When you enter a host name, an additional row appears below it, so you can add more than one host to the environment.
Under Policy Settings, select a rollback policy. This setting determines what is considered a failure when an index is being deployed.
Lenient. As long as one Search engine starts, the index is deployed.
Strict. If any Search engines fail to start, the index is not deployed.
To specify Advanced Settings, click Show.
Settings can include:
Root index path, which designates where the index partition file is to be copied. specifies the base directory for index files for the machine’s search engines. Engines will create their own subdirectories automatically. This is a local path. For example:
RoutingSystemService.defaultRootIndexPath=d:\\indexfilesPort number(s) to use for communication with search engine instances. For example:

Click Save.
