If your site is under heavy load and CPU utilization is low, you can try increasing both the maxSpareThreads setting in AESoapWaspConfig.xml and the MaxThreads setting in AEConfig.xml to improve performance. Both of these files are located in <ATG2007.3dir>\Search2007.3\SearchEngine\operating_system\bin\. These properties specify the number of threads to use in the engine. For optimum performance, this value should equal the number of processors on the system. The default is 10 and should be fine for systems up to 10 processors. For systems with more than 10 processors, this value needs to be increased.
