Customizations are used to enhance the out-of-the-box configuration for features such as languages, dictionaries, and topic sets. Most customizations are created and edited using the workbench. However, two customization types, Rank Configuration and Auxiliary Data customizations are not available via the workbench. These customizations must be loaded by reference.

To add customizations by reference, all you need to do is place the XML file containing the customization information in the correct folder in your ATG 2007.3 installation. Search provides file customization adaptors, which load the customization data, for all customization types except topics. Search Administration will automatically pick up the XML files and make the customizations available to add to projects.

By default, the file customization adapters look in the following directories in your <ATG2007.dir>/home/localconfig/atg/searchadmin/customizations directory to find by reference file customization items:

/auxiliary_data
/rank_configs
