Before you can create a database instance, you must first:
Create a database virtual machine group, with virtual machines within that virtual machine group. See Database Virtual Machine Group Profile Overview.
Create one or more database homes for the database virtual machine group. See Database Home Overview.
When you create a database instance, you must provide the following information:
The specific virtual machines within the database virtual machine group where you want to set up the database instance
The specific database home within that virtual machine, with a specific database version, where you want to set up the database instance
The cluster type that you want to use for this database instance:
Single — Creates a single database instance (one virtual machine) on one compute node.
RAC — Creates an active-active clustered database instance (two virtual machines) across both compute nodes, with one virtual machine on each compute node.
RAC-One Node — Creates an active-passive clustered database instance (two virtual machines) across both compute nodes, with one virtual machine on each compute node.
