Single Database Instance Example

Assume that you want to create this database instance:

  • Database home for database version 12c (/full-path/12.1.0/dbhome_1)

  • Single database instance, where the database instance is on one virtual machine (virtual machine 2) in one compute node (compute node 2)

  • Name: SingIns1

In the Database Virtual Machine Group Summary page, you would locate the line with the database home that you want to use (in this example, on the line with the version 12.1.0/dbhome_1). To create this database instance, you would first locate that specific virtual machine (virtual machine 2) on that specific compute node (compute node 2) in the Database Virtual Machine Group Summary page, then you would click on the plus sign on the 12.1.0.x line for that virtual machine on that compute node.

The Create Oracle Database Instance page appears. In this page, you would select Single for the Database Instance Type. You will also be prompted to select the virtual machines that you want to use to create the database instance. You already selected virtual machine 2 in compute node 2 in the Database Information Summary page, so this virtual machine is selected by default. Because you chose Single for the Database Instance Type, the preselected virtual machine 2 in compute node 2 is the only virtual machine available.

This figure represents this database instance example.
