Remove the Battery

The battery is a cold-service component that can be replaced only after you have removed the main module.

Caution  -  This procedure requires that you handle components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. This discharge can cause server components to fail.

1. Take the necessary ESD precautions.

   See Prevent ESD Damage.

2. Remove the main module.

   See Remove the Main Module.

3. Locate the system battery in the main module.

   See Main Module Internal Component Locations.

4. Gently push the battery toward the side of the server to release it from the retention clip.
