Power On the Server (Power Button)

If you are local to the server, you can use the Power button to start the system. However, the start up process depends on the last power state of the system and on Oracle ILOM policy settings. After pressing the Power button, you will need to check the system to ensure that it is running.

  1. Connect a terminal device to the server, if necessary.
  2. Momentarily press and release the Power button on the front panel.

    See Front Panel Controls and LEDs for the location of the Power button.

  3. Ensure that the system has been started.
    -> show /System power_state
    • If the system is running, go to the verification task for the component.

    • If the system is not running, go to Step 3.

  4. Start the system.
    -> start /System
  5. Determine your next step.
    • If you are servicing a component, return to the procedure for that component.

    • If you are upgrading the server, return to Server Upgrade Process.
