Power Off the Server (SP Command)

You can use the SP to perform a graceful shutdown of the system. This type of shutdown ensures that all of your data is saved and that the system is ready for restart.

Note -  Additional information about powering off the system is provided in the SPARC T5 Series Servers Administration Guide.
  1. Log in as superuser or equivalent.

Depending on the type of problem, you might want to view system status or log files. You also might want to run diagnostics before you shut down the system.

  2. Switch from the system console to the Oracle ILOM prompt by typing the #. (Hash Period) key sequence.
  3. At the Oracle ILOM prompt, type the stop /System command.
  4. If you are servicing a cold-service component, or if you are upgrading the server, disconnect the power cords.

    See Disconnect the Power Cords.
