The Global Field Definitions page allows you to create fields that appear in all solution classes. You can also delete fields, modify fields, and specify data types and field security. Global field definitions are comprised of:
Custom Fields - Fields that you create specifically for your solution classes
Intrinsic Fields - Intrinsic fields are solution class fields for which you can only edit their display name
All custom fields have a purpose property that is set automatically and have a value of content or purpose. Statement field types are of content purpose and are displayed in the Content panel on a solution in ATG Knowledge. All other field types are of property purpose and are displayed in the Properties panel on a solution in ATG Knowledge. The purpose property also controls how fields are displayed on a solution in ATG Self Service.
