A/B testing is the name given to a method of experimentation used to see how a change to a website impacts on the behavior of a visitor to the website. You would usually vary only one element and then measure the performance of the control and variant element against a pre-defined goal.

The intention is that you can make informed decisions about website content backed up by evidence gathered from real-world metrics that shows which element is more successful in driving visitors towards a measurable goal.
