Install a Switch Unit

Caution  -  If you remove this component while the server is powered on, wait 30 seconds before installing the replacement component. Doing so ensures that Oracle ILOM has enough time to detect the new component, which is required for the software to power it on.

  1. Install the switch unit.
    image:Illustration that shows how to install a switch unit.
    1. Open the ejector arms so that they are fully open (panel 1).
    2. Install the new switch unit into its slot in the server until the ejector arms begin to engage (panel 2).
    3. Press the arms back toward the switch unit, and then press the arms firmly against the switch unit to fully seat it back into the server (panel 3).

      The lever should click into place when the switch unit is fully seated in the server.

  2. Reinstall the fan modules that you removed from the faulted switch unit.

    See Install a Fan Module (Switch Chassis).

  3. Check the event logs to determine whether an FPGA update is required and update the firmware, if needed.
    -> show /SP/logs/event/list/

  4. Restart the server, if needed.
    -> start /System
  5. Verify that the fault has been cleared and the replaced component is operational.

    See Verify That a Fault Has Been Cleared.
