Prevent Automatic SP or SPP Failover

The SPs and SPPs in the server are to failover automatically when the Oracle ILOM firmware senses a fault or when a SP or SPP is taken offline. Before preparing to service an SP or SPP, set the Oracle ILOM /System/DCUs failover property to manual. Setting the failover property to manual enables you to prepare an SP or SPP for service without interference from the Oracle ILOM firmware.

Caution

Caution  -  Only set the failover property to manual when servicing SPs and SPPs. After servicing the SP or SPP, set the failover property back to auto so that the components will failover properly in case of a fault or user command.

Note -  This failover property was added to the Oracle ILOM firmware version 4.0.x. The property will not be available on SPARC M7 servers running earlier versions of the Oracle ILOM firmware. Always update your system firmware to latest available and supported version for optimal performance, security, and stability.
  • On an SP, type:
    -> set /System/DCUs failover=manual
