Prepare a Switch Unit for Removal
Replace a switch unit when the replacement switch unit is available.
Complete the following steps before you remove a switch unit.
The switch unit replacement kit includes plastic covers to protect switch unit
connectors. Return these covers to Oracle.
Determine which switch unit requires service.
See Identify Faulted Components and Switch Unit LEDs.
If you are replacing a switch unit, unpack the new switch unit on a grounded

Verify that the switch unit has been removed from service.

health = Offline
Determine your next step.
If health returns a value of Service
Required, go to Step 4.
If health returns a value of
Offline, go to Step 5.
Only if required, stop the server.
-> stop /System

Prepare the switch unit for removal and verify that it is ready.

When the switch unit is ready to remove, the blue Ready to Remove LED will
If you issue the prepare_to_remove command but decide
not to remove the switch unit, you must return the component to service. To
do this, either issue the return_to_service command or
physically remove the switch unit from the server and reinstall it.
Remove the plastic covers from the connectors on the new switch unit and set
them aside for installation on the old switch unit connectors, once you have
removed it from the system.
