Servicing Switch Units

In SPARC M7-16 servers, switch units are part of the scalability feature that enables a PDomain to control DCUs. Switch units are configured to work together as a single unit. If a switch unit fails, the server will operate in degraded mode. At least five switch units must be functioning for the server to operate.

Replace a failed switch unit as soon as possible.

For the location of the six switch units, see Switch Chassis Rear Components (SPARC M7-16).

Caution

Caution  -  This procedure requires that you handle components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. This discharge can cause server components to fail. Follow antistatic precautions to prevent electrostatic damage. See Prevent ESD Damage.
