Service security allows you to configure different levels of access to internal users. By creating security architecture, you can configure access to different elements of the Service application.
Security within Service controls:
- Access to pages, panels and sites
- Who can view, edit or approve solutions
- Which portions of solutions that can be viewed or modified
- The steps that a specific user performs in a solution publishing workflow
Security is available at several different levels, including:
- UI – Security set on the Service UI, which includes pages, panels and other UI elements. UI Security also allows you to set access for performing searches or managing queries
- Solution – Security on solutions, or content, which includes the ability view, edit, approve or reject solutions. This level of security is based on the status and owning group of the solution
- Field – Security for specific fields that allow specified segments of users to access the field for viewing or editing
- Field Value – Security for field values. This controls who can view or edit specific field values, for example, solution statement values or global list values
