Configure the FIPS Service (Oracle ILOM CLI)

FIPS provides encryption and security to certain data transmitted and received by FIPS-compliant devices. Some environments (for example, government installations) require FIPS. By default, FIPS is disabled, but you can enable it by using this task.

  1. If needed, enable FIPS.
    -> set /SP/services/fips/ state=enabled
    Set 'state' to 'enabled'
    The configuration change will be applied the next time the SP is reset.
    ->

    Note -  Enabling FIPs is not immediate. You must reset the SP for FIPS to become active.
  2. Reset the SP.
    -> reset /SP/
    Set 'state' to 'enabled'
    The configuration change will be applied the next time the SP is reset.
    ->

  3. Check the status of FIPS.

    The state and status should both be enabled. If the status of FIPS is disabled; enabled at next boot then you must reset the SP.

    See Display the FIPS Service Status (Oracle ILOM CLI).
