Remove a PDECB

This procedure can be performed by a customer while the server is running and after removing the component that is installed in front of it.

Caution

Caution  -  This procedure requires that you handle components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. This discharge can cause server components to fail. When you unpack the replacement part, open the package on a grounded antistatic mat. Always use an antistatic wrist strap for hardware replacements.

  1. Determine which PDECB requires service.

See Identify Faulted Components, CMIOU Indicators and LEDs, or Switch Unit LEDs.

  2. Take the necessary ESD precautions.

    See Prevent ESD Damage.

  3. Ensure that the component that contains the PDECB you are removing displays an amber LED.

This illustration shows the location of the LED on a CMIOU.
