Install a Switch Chassis

  1. If you have not already done so, remove the faulty switch chassis.

    See Remove a Switch Chassis.

  2. Determine your next step:
    • If you have another person to assist you, go to Step 4.
    • If you are alone, go to Step 3.
  3. Place the chassis on a mechanical lift.
  4. Install the chassis into the rack, and secure the chassis with the five screws that were removed.
  5. At the front of the server, install these components.
    Component
    Link
    SP interconnect
    External interconnects
  6. At the rear of the server, install these components.
    Component
    Link
    Power module, which includes the AC input strip and the front indicator panel
    PDECBs
    Switch units
    SP tray
    SPs
    Cables
    Ensure that you install the cables in the same slots from which you removed them.
  7. At the front of the server, install the power supplies.

    See Servicing Power Supplies.

  8. From the rear of the server, install the top hold-down brackets.

  9. Switch on the appropriate PDU circuit breakers and power on the server.

    Returning the Server to Operation.

  10. Verify that the fault has been cleared and the replaced component is operational.
