Perform Additional Diagnostics at the Switch
Note -
This procedure assumes that the air duct assembly has been removed and the
SER MGT cable remains attached. See
Remove the Air Duct Assembly for
instructions.

Are you starting a new troubleshooting session with this task?

Is the chassis status amber Attention LED on to indicate a fault?

Is a fan module amber Attention LED on?
-
Fully loosen the thumbscrew and unseat the faulted fan module, wait a
minute, then reseat the fan module and tighten the thumbscrew
finger-tight.

Does the fan module Attention LED persist?
-
Are magenta-colored PrizmMT cables connected in ports 1 through 26?
-
Yes – Go to Step 7.
-
No – Reattach the
magenta-colored PrizmMT cables to ports 1 through 26, then go to
Step 7.

Are black-colored PrizmMT cables connected in ports 27 through 30?
-
Yes – Go to Step 8.

No – Reattach the
black-colored PrizmMT cables to ports 27 through 30, then go to
Step 8.

Are all cabled Ethernet port Link LEDs on?
-
Does any cabled Ethernet port Link LED flash on occasion?
-
Are you sure you know that the cabling for the suspect ports is wired
correctly with good cables and firm connections?

Inspect and replace cabling as necessary.
Then return to Step 8.

Are you sure you know that the communication hardware (NICs, hosts,
routers, and switches) are fully functional?

Yes – The switch itself
is defective. Go to Step 14.

No – Go to Step 13.

Inspect and replace communication hardware as necessary.
Then return to Step 8.

Remove the faulted component and install a new component.
