Remove a Fan Module

Removing a fan module is a hot-swap operation. You do not need to power off the switch before you remove the fan module.

1. Determine which fan module to remove.

   See Locate a Faulty Fan Module.

2. Consider your next step.
   • If you have not prepared for service, you must do so now.

     See Preparing for Service.

   • If you have completed those prerequisite tasks, go to Step 3.
3. If you have not already done so, remove the air duct assembly and SER MGT cable (if connected).

4. Loosen the captive thumbscrew at the right side of the fan module.
   
5. Grasp the handle and pull the fan module straight out.
   
6. Set the fan module aside.
7. Install a new fan module.
