Prepare to Power Off the Switch

Perform this task before powering off the switch for a switch replacement.


Note -  The steps of this task are a generalization of what is to be done. For more thorough instructions on how to accomplish these steps, refer to the Oracle EDR InfiniBand Switch and Virtualized I/O Systems Administration Guide, the Oracle Fabric Manager 5.0 Administration Guide, and the Oracle Fabric OS 1.0 Administration Guide.
  1. Notify affected users that the switch is to be shut down.
  2. Access the SCP on the switch to be removed.

    See Access the SCP (RJ-45 Port).

  3. If the switch to be removed is configured with the master Subnet Manager, initiate a handover to the standby Subnet Manager.

    Refer to the Oracle Fabric Manager 5.0 Administration Guide. Wait for any handover to complete.

  4. If the switch to be removed is configured with any Subnet Manager, set the priority to the lowest.

    Refer to the Oracle Fabric Manager 5.0 Administration Guide.

  5. Create a backup of the switch configuration for the switch to be removed.
    1. On the switch, create a backup of the Oracle Fabric Manager configuration.

      Refer to the Oracle Fabric Manager 5.0 Administration Guide.

    2. On the switch, create a backup of the Oracle Fabric OS configuration.

      Refer to the Oracle Fabric OS 1.0 Administration Guide.

    3. Access the SP.

    4. Write the SEFOS configuration to Oracle ILOM, and create a backup of the Oracle ILOM configuration.

      This backs up the SEFOS configuration. Refer to the Oracle EDR InfiniBand Switch and Virtualized I/O Systems Administration Guide.

    5. Transfer the backup files to a safe place.
  6. Power off the switch.
