Servicing CPU Module (CMOD) Components (FRU)

This section describes how to service CMODs and CMOD components. CMODs are located at the front of the server, in back of the fan modules and fan frames. The following topics and procedures provide information to assist you when removing and installing CMODs and CMOD components:

CMODs are field-replaceable units (FRUs). A customer can remove and insert CMODs to access internal components that are designated CRU. For more information about FRUs, see Illustrated Parts Breakdown and Field-Replaceable Units. For component serviceability, locations, and designations, see Replaceable Components. See CPU Module (CMOD) Overview.

Caution

Caution  -  CMODs should be removed and replaced only by authorized Oracle Service personnel. (A CMOD can be removed and re-inserted by customers to access internal CMOD CRU components such as processors and memory.)

Caution

Caution  -  These procedures require that you handle components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. This sensitivity can cause the components to fail. To avoid damage, ensure that you follow antistatic practices as described in Electrostatic Discharge and Static Prevention Measures.
