Serviceability Overview

For detailed information about server component hot, warm, or cold serviceability, see Component Serviceability Requirements.

Review the Oracle Server X7-8 Product Notes at: https://www.oracle.com/goto/x7-8/docs for hardware-related information before performing removal and installation procedures.

Hot Service

Hot service components can be serviced while the server is powered on and running in Main power mode.

The following components can be hot-serviced:

See Prepare the Server for Hot Service (Oracle ILOM CLI) or Prepare the Server for Hot Service (Oracle ILOM Web Interface).

Warm Service

Warm service components can be serviced while the server is in Standby power mode. You can remove and replace CMODs, DIMMs, and processors and heatsinks without disconnecting the back panel AC power cords or shutting down Oracle ILOM.

The following components can be warm-serviced:

See Prepare the Server for Warm Service (Oracle ILOM CLI) or Prepare the Server for Warm Service (Oracle ILOM Web Interface).

Cold Service

Cold service components must be serviced when the server is completely powered off and all four AC power cords are disconnected from the server back panel AC power block.

The following components can be cold-serviced:

See Prepare the Server for Cold Service (Oracle ILOM CLI) or Prepare the Server for Cold Service (Oracle ILOM Web Interface).

The steps in these remote procedures use the Oracle ILOM CLI interface or web interface. For more information, refer to the Oracle ILOM 4.0 documentation at: https://www.oracle.com/goto/ilom/docs.
