For detailed information about server component hot, warm, or cold serviceability, see Component Serviceability Requirements.
Review the Oracle Server X7-8 Product Notes at: https://www.oracle.com/goto/x7-8/docs for hardware-related information before performing removal and installation procedures.
Hot service components can be serviced while the server is powered on and running in Main power mode.
The following components can be hot-serviced:
Storage drives, see Servicing Storage Drives (CRU)
Fan modules, see Servicing Fan Modules (CRU) and Fan Frames (CRU)
Power supplies, see Servicing Power Supplies (CRU)
Dual PCIe Card Carriers (DPCCs), see Servicing PCIe Cards and Carriers (CRU)
See Prepare the Server for Hot Service (Oracle ILOM CLI) or Prepare the Server for Hot Service (Oracle ILOM Web Interface).
Warm service components can be serviced while the server is in Standby power mode. You can remove and replace CMODs, DIMMs, and processors and heatsinks without disconnecting the back panel AC power cords or shutting down Oracle ILOM.
The following components can be warm-serviced:
Fan frames, see Servicing Fan Modules (CRU) and Fan Frames (CRU).
CMOD assembly, see Servicing CPU Module (CMOD) Components (FRU)
Processor (CPU), see Servicing Processors (FRU)
DIMM memory, see Servicing DIMMs (CRU)
See Prepare the Server for Warm Service (Oracle ILOM CLI) or Prepare the Server for Warm Service (Oracle ILOM Web Interface).
Cold service components must be serviced when the server is completely powered off and all four AC power cords are disconnected from the server back panel AC power block.
The following components can be cold-serviced:
System module (SMOD), see Servicing System Module (SMOD) Components (FRU)
Host bus adapter (HBA) card, see Servicing the Host Bus Adapter (HBA) Card (FRU)
HBA cable, see Servicing the SAS Cable (FRU)
Energy Storage Module (ESM), see Servicing the Energy Storage Module and Cables (CRU)
Energy Storage Module cable, see Servicing the Energy Storage Module and Cables (CRU)
System clock battery, see Servicing the System Battery (CRU)
Fan frame, see Servicing Fan Modules (CRU) and Fan Frames (CRU)
Front indicator module, see (FIM) Servicing the Front Indicator Module (FRU)
Midplane, see Remove the Midplane Assembly
Internal USB flash drive (not used)
See Prepare the Server for Cold Service (Oracle ILOM CLI) or Prepare the Server for Cold Service (Oracle ILOM Web Interface).
The steps in these remote procedures use the Oracle ILOM CLI interface or web interface. For more information, refer to the Oracle ILOM 4.0 documentation at: https://www.oracle.com/goto/ilom/docs.
