Install a Fan Module

Use this procedure after removing a fan module to install a replacement fan module or to install a fan module after accessing the CMODs behind it.

1. Prepare the server for hot service.

   See Preparing the Server for Component Replacement.

   ---

   Note -  This procedure can also be completed as a warm service or cold service procedure, for example, to access CMODs.

   ---

2. Align the fan module with the slot.

   Access this component directly from the front of the server. Ensure the handle is positioned at the bottom of the slot with the green release button to the left and that the air vane for the slot swings freely.

   ---

   Caution  -  Component damage. Do not apply excessive force when sliding the fan module into the server. Ensure that the connector on the CMOD and the connector on the fan module are aligned correctly.

3. To install the fan module, slide it into the slot until it stops and gently push it inward until the fan module locks into place.

   The locking action is accompanied by a click sound.

   
   
4. Verify that the green Fan OK indicator on the fan module lights and is steady on.
