Set Up for Local Installation

Use this procedure to set up for a local installation. A local OS installation is performed at the server. The preferred procedure for a local installation method is to use the Oracle System Assistant's Install OS task.

Before You Begin

• Install the server. Refer to the Sun Server X4-4 Installation Guide .

• Obtain the following items:

  • Video monitor with 15-pin (DB-15) connector capabilities

  • USB keyboard and mouse

  • USB device (CD/DVD drive or thumb drive)

• To ensure that the server has the latest updates, server web access is recommended.

1. Ensure the server is in standby power.
2. Connect the video monitor to the video connector on the front of the server.
3. Connect the keyboard and mouse to one of the USB connectors on the front of the server.
4. Connect the CD/DVD drive to the other USB connector on the front of the server (if the server does not have a DVD drive built-in).
