Search testing allows you to preview search results and test the outcome of search configurations and facets from within ATG Merchandising. You can use search testing to analyze how the search engine processes queries and ranks search results and then apply that information when creating facets, designing search configurations, and editing catalog items.

A search test can include deployed or undeployed search configurations and facets. After you’ve created your search configurations or facets, it may be difficult to know how those settings are applied to searches. With search testing, you can test the results of new and updated search configurations and facets before you deploy them to a target site. You can also troubleshoot existing search configurations and facets on your production site to help you determine whether they are working effectively.
