The Configuration and Installation Manager (CIM) reduces the complexity of configuring multiple ATG applications. A series of text-based wizards guide you through configuration procedures, ensuring that necessary steps are completed and that steps are performed in the correct order. The result is a functional installation that can be used as a starting point for further configuration.
Note: CIM does not replace configuration steps that require a running ATG application, or for which a suitable user interface exists.
Although this section describes the CIM tasks specific to ATG Merchandising, CIM also performs the necessary database configuration for ATG Platform and ATG Commerce.
Note: CIM does not support ATG Business Commerce.
When you use CIM to configure ATG Merchandising, it completes the following steps:
Creates the tables for ATG Content Administration. For a list of scripts that it runs, see the ATG Content Administration Programming Guide.
Note: CIM destroys any existing ATG Merchandising database tables and data before creating the new tables.
Runs the
search_ddl.sql
script to create tables that support search integration if you plan to use ATG Search with ATG Merchandising.CIM also runs the scripts that support the add-on ATG Search features for ATG Merchandising and ATG Commerce if you use custom catalogs, as described in Creating Versioned Custom Catalog Tables with Search Support.
Creates the ATG Merchandising tables as described in Creating Versioned Core Commerce Tables, including the script that creates tables that support versioned custom catalogs.
Imports the content required by ATG Content Administration and ATG Merchandising.
Assembles and deploys the application.
To use CIM, do the following:
