Before you can begin creating and editing assets, you must first create an ATG Merchandising project. The project manages the steps and activities in the process of creating and deploying new versions of assets.

For more information about creating projects, see the Creatingand Managing Projects chapter of the ATG Content Administration Guide for Business Users.

Use the following steps to create a project in ATG Merchandising:

  1. Log in to ATG Merchandising through the ATG Business Control Center. See Accessing the ATG Merchandising UI.

  2. Expand the Merchandising menu and choose a project type. The out-of-the-box types are:

    • Manage Commerce Assets – choose this option if you want to create, modify, organize, or delete commerce assets, including Search Merchandising assets.

    • Administer Commerce Search – choose this option if you want to administer Search Merchandising features such as the search configuration tree (requires ATG Search). See Administering Search Configurations.

Additional project types may appear depending on how your application was configured.

  3. In the Project Name field, type a descriptive name for the new project.

  4. (Optional) In the Project Description field, type a brief description of the project.

  5. Click Continue.

The ATG Merchandising main page appears where you can begin working on the Author task for your new project. See Working on a Task.

After you create your project, you can create, edit, organize, and delete assets. See Creating and Organizing Assets and Modifying and Previewing the Properties of Assets.
