As part of the evaluation setup, create the appropriate database tables in SOLID, the evaluation database provided with your installation. Technically, you can evaluate ATG Merchandising on any supported database. SOLID is provided as a convenience to you. If you choose to evaluate this product on a database that already has tables for ATG products, back up your database before running these scripts because they overwrite existing tables, removing data and custom code.

Before you begin, make the necessary pre-setup configurations to your database as described in the ATG Programming Guide. Next, create and populate the database tables used by ATG Merchandising by performing the steps in the following table:

Step

Description

Procedure

1

Start your database according to the instructions provided by your database vendor.

If you are using the SOLID evaluation database on Microsoft Windows, you can start the database by opening the Start menu and choosing Programs > ATG 9.3 > ATG Content Administration > Start SOLID Server.

See Starting the SOLID SQL Database in the ATG Installation and Configuration Guide.

2

Create the database tables that support ATG Merchandising.

If you have ATG Consumer Commerce and plan to use custom catalogs, or you plan to run the custom catalogs module on its own, install the necessary tables.

If you have ATG Business Commerce, create the necessary additional tables.

See Creating Versioned Core Commerce Tables.

ATG Consumer Commerce users who plan to use custom catalogs or users who plan to run the custom catalogs module on its own should also see Creating Versioned Custom Catalogs Tables.

ATG Business Commerce users should also see Creating Versioned Business Commerce Tables.

3

If you have ATG Search and you want to use the Search Merchandising and Faceted Search add-on features, create the necessary database tables.

See Creating Versioned Search Tables.

If you use ATG Business Commerce or ATG Consumer Commerce with custom catalogs, also see Creating Versioned Custom Catalog Tables with Search Support.

4

Import ATG Merchandising content into your ATG Content Administration database.

See Importing Required Content.
