When you preview assets, you select an asset, a JSP, and a preview user to see how, for example, the new image you added to a skirt product will appear in the Product page of your Web site to Francis Finkle, a woman in the Midwest. Preview is especially helpful for showing how a site displays different information to users based on profile information, if it is designed to use personalization features.

Before you can preview assets, an administrator must complete the preview setup tasks described in the Setting up Preview chapter in the ATG Business Control Center Administration and Development Guide.

After you have made changes to an asset, you preview those changes as follows:

  1. Using the Browse tab, Search tab, Project tab, or Multi Edit tab locate the asset you want to preview, then click its name. See Navigation Pane for instructions.

  2. If you’ve made recent changes to the asset, click Save, so those changes will be reflected in the preview. Otherwise, use Revert to revert properties to their previously saved values.

  3. In the Details pane, click either Preview As or Preview to start a preview session in a new browser window.

    • Preview permits you to apply the preview user and JSP settings from the last time you previewed this asset in this project to the current preview session.

    • Preview As opens the Preview Launch dialog, where you can select a preview user and JSP.

Note: during the preview session, you can change the preview user, using the As User drop-down list, refresh the page using Preview Landing Page, or remove the frame surrounding the landing page, using Remove Frame.
