Remove a PCIe2 Riser

  1. Prepare the server for service.

    See Preparing the Server for Component Replacement.

  2. Remove the PCI mezzanine.

    See Remove the PCI Mezzanine.

  3. Select the PCIe2 riser that you want to remove.

    See PCIe2 Riser Location and Differences.

  4. If there is a PCIe2 card installed in the riser, disconnect any external or internal cables from the card.
  5. Use a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver to loosen the three green captive screws securing the riser to the system.

    One internal captive screw secures the riser to the motherboard and two external screws secure the riser to rear panel.

  6. Lift the PCIe2 riser out of the server.

    If there is a PCIe2 card installed in the riser, place the riser an antistatic mat. Note in which slot the PCIe riser was originally installed.
